My beautiful little inventor: let this labcoat be a reminder of my never-ending support and love for you. Let it be a source of validation that inspires you to create amazing things to make this world a better place. So long as you wear it, you'll always have a bit of me with you. -mom to 8 year old Flint

Frances[citation needed] "Fran" Lockwood is a character in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. She was the wife of Tim Lockwood and the mother of Flint and was very supportive of Flint in his wish to be an inventor.

It is mentioned that she had died ten years before Flint invented the FLDSMDFR. She is voiced by Lauren Graham.

Personality

Fran was a loving, encouraging, supportive, sweet, friendly, and caring mother who was the main reason why Flint continued his love for inventing even though he failed and was humiliated over and over again.

History

Flint's Childhood

After Flint was humiliated due to the failure of his Spray-On Shoes, it was his mother who encouraged him to not give up on his dream of inventing and even made for him a white lab coat to show her support for her son. The coat would continue to worn by Flint for the rest of his life.

In Coat of Harms Flint tells Sam "my mom gave it to me when I was eight."

Nearly ten years[1] prior to the creation of the FLDSMDFR she died and her death affected both Flint and Tim heavily. After her death Tim proved to have difficulties raising his son due to not knowing how to properly show him the encouragement his mother used to show him, however Flint would continue to be encouraged by the words she spoke to him in his youth throughout his inventing carrier.

In the end credits, her ghost is seen haunting Patrick Patrickson.
